Top five tips - your home

Crime prevention does not mean you have to dip into your piggy bank.
In fact, the five things we've listed here certainly won't break the bank
and could offer you that extra piece of mind.

These five tips for your home may seem like common sense, but these extra
precautions are simple to do and they certainly don't cost much money.
1. The spare keys - never leave it in a plant pot or inside the letterbox.
Instead, why not give it to a trusted neighbour?
2. An inventory - takes half an hour and writes down a list of your
valuables. If the worst does happen, it will make an insurance claim much
easier.
3. Window locks - if you have window locks, make sure you use them. If you
don't have them, they aren't expensive and they are relatively easy to fit
too.
4. Personal information - if you throw away credit card receipts and bills,
make sure you rip them up so they are unreadable.
5. Marking your valuables - for about £1 you can buy an ultra-violet marker
pen that you can use to write your postcode on your electrical goods.
