GIVE YOUR RECYCLING CENTRE A RUBBISH PRESENT

Cambridgeshire waste chiefs are encouraging people to recycle this Christmas 
as mountains of rubbish can grow during the festive season.

Cambridgeshire County Council's Recycling Centres have extensive facilities 
to recycle most household items, from old Christmas cards to batteries, 
cardboard boxes and electrical items.

Last December, residents recycled about 233 tonnes more through the 
recycling centres than during the same month in 2005 - equivalent to the 
weight of 200 cars.

 All ten of the County Council's Recycling Centres open throughout the 
festive period to make recycling easier. The sites will be open as follows:

24th December - Normal Opening times, Closing at 1pm
25th December - CLOSED
26th December - CLOSED
27th December - Open as usual
28th December - Open as usual
29th December - Open as usual
30th December - Open as usual
31st December - CLOSED (apart from Buckden)
1st January - CLOSED
2nd January onwards - Open as usual

Please note that Buckden Household Waste Recycling Centre will operate from 
9am till 4pm on December 31st

Liz Hawkins, Waste Campaigns Officer for Cambridgeshire County Councilsaid: 
"Christmas is about being positive, so lets put our good intentions into 
action by recycling. We are currently recycling half of our waste, but with 
the extra consumption of the seasonal festivities the challenge gets bigger, 
so please make sure you recycle your bottles, jars, cans and cards and if 
you received that 'not really me' present take it to your local charity 
shop"

Bluntisham - Heath Road, Bluntisham: 8am - 4pm
Buckden - Brampton Road, Buckden: 9am - 4pm
Grunty Fen - Pools Road, Witchford: 9am - 4pm
March - Hundred Road, March: 8am - 4pm (Mon-Sat) 9am - 4pm (Sun)
Milton - Butt Lane, Milton: 9am - 4pm
St Neots - Huntingdon Street, St Neots: 8am - 4pm or dusk.
Thriplow - Gravel Pit Hill, Thriplow: 8am - 4pm
Whittlesey - New Road, Whittlesey: 9am - 4pm
Wisbech - Boleness Road, Wisbech:  8am - 5pm
