Cambridgeshire County Council's Recycling Centres have extensive facilities to recycle most household items, from old Christmas cards to batteries, cardboard boxes and electrical items. Last December, residents recycled about 233 tonnes more through the recycling centres than during the same month in 2005 - equivalent to the weight of 200 cars. All ten of the County Council's Recycling Centres open throughout the festive period to make recycling easier. The sites will be open as follows: 24th December - Normal Opening times, Closing at 1pm 25th December - CLOSED 26th December - CLOSED 27th December - Open as usual 28th December - Open as usual 29th December - Open as usual 30th December - Open as usual 31st December - CLOSED (apart from Buckden) 1st January - CLOSED 2nd January onwards - Open as usual Please note that Buckden Household Waste Recycling Centre will operate from 9am till 4pm on December 31st Liz Hawkins, Waste Campaigns Officer for Cambridgeshire County Councilsaid: "Christmas is about being positive, so lets put our good intentions into action by recycling.
