Date: 28 November 2007 21:05 GETTING GREEN WITH THE GUIDED BUSWAY People can find out more about the ecological work happening on the Guided Busway project in a special newsletter published this week. The "Green Update" has information about how Cambridgeshire County Council is protecting plants and wildlife during construction, and how the Council is putting something back into the environment to compensate for disturbance caused by construction. The newsletter also contains an interview with the project's Ecological Clerk of Works. It can be found on the Council's website at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/guidedbusway Bob Menzies, Head of Delivery for the Guided Busway said, "We know a lot of people are interested in the ecological work we're doing and we wanted to put together a special edition of our regular newsletter for them. As part of the busway project we are creating 16 new areas for ecological habitats and protected species. We've also moved and stored some important plant species to the Botanical Gardens in Cambridge. Near Station Road in Oakington we have done some special wetland planting to help stabilise the bank at Beck Brook. The environmental aspects of the project are very important and we have a number of people working solely on these issues." A regular newsletter about the Guided Busway project is produced every other month. Anyone who would like to receive the updates directly by email can contact guidedbusway@cambridgeshire.gov.uk John Reynolds
