Date: 24 November 2007 14:17 POSTAL TAPE SERVICE IN LINE TO 'POT' AWARD Cambridgeshire County Council's Postal Tape Service (POTS) has been nominated for an award for its support of people with visual impairment. POTS - which is part of the County Council's Library, Archives and Information Service, has been put forward for the annual 'The Way To Be Awards' that are organised by Cambridge City Council. Nominations for 'The Way To Be Awards' are made by members of the community who nominate people, services, shops etc, who they feel have made a positive contribution to the lives of disabled people. The POTS offers a free postal service of talking books on cassette delivered directly to the homes of visually impaired adults living in Cambridgeshire. The service currently supports almost 500 people around the county. Users of the service can choose from a printed, cassette or Braille version of the catalogue of over 6000 available titles or have books chosen for them by the staff. County Council POTS Supervisor, Wendy Law, said: "The Way To Be Awards give the chance for anybody, but particularly disabled people, the chance to reward the businesses and services that treat them well, properly and with respect, and we are delighted that our service has been nominated for an award."
