Date: 27 October 2007 15:10 GUIDED BUSWAY ROAD WORKS ARE ON TRACK Road works that have been in place because of construction of theGuided Busway are on track. Cambridgeshire County Council is re-opening Station Road in Oakingtonlater today (Friday 26th October), on schedule. The road has beenclosed to all motor vehicles since July. Bob Menzies, Head of Delivery for the Guided Busway said, "Theconstruction work on Station Road has gone very well and we've got thejunction built for the Guided Busway. I'd like to thank local peoplefor their patience and understanding during this closure. I'm pleased we've been able to stick to the schedule and get the road open when wesaid we would." Construction work on the Guided Busway is progressing rapidly.Following the opening of Station Road the Council is now progressing towards Cambridge and starting work on the next busway junction onPark Lane, Girton (also known as Gatehouse Road). Park Lane will be closed from Monday 29th October to all motorvehicles. There will still be access for cyclists and pedestrians. Theroad will re-open in late February 2008. Mr Menzies added, "I know it is frustrating and inconvenient for localpeople to have to deal with these road closures but we are doing ourbest to get the work completed as quickly as possible. I'm sorry for the delays and diversions people face." John Reynolds
