Date: 06 April 2008 17:01 COUNTY COUNCIL RECOGNISED FOR INVESTING IN PEOPLE Employees and Councillors at Cambridgeshire County Council have been celebrating after achieving the prestigious Investors in People Award for the second time. IIP is a framework of good practice and is a way of supporting the organisation in increasing its performance through its people. Having previously attained the standard in February 2005, Cambridgeshire County Council took the decision to be assessed this time against the Profile Standard, which enables the organisation to look in depth at broaderareas of people management and development. The Standard tells an organisation how good they are and where they can focus for further improvements. The County Council chose to look in depth at, * Leadership and Management * Recruitment and Retention * Capacity Cambridgeshire County Council is the first organisation in the region to take this approach. Cambridgeshire County Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, Councillor John Reynolds who received the certificate on behalf of the organisation said: "On behalf of the County Council, I am pleased to accept the certificate which signifies our re-accreditation under the Investors in People Standard. As the largest single employer within Cambridgeshire I, and other members of the County Council recognise that we can only deliver high quality services by having a highly skilled and talented workforce. "Achieving Investors in People means that we are continuing to make the necessary improvements in the way that we lead, manage and support our employees, both now and for the future. I'd like to thank everyone who has been involved with this major achievement." John Reynolds
